Shelly is a Licensed Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Revolution in Bloomington and has been an agent since 2006. Shelly grew up in Taylorville, Illinois, a small town south of Springfield, Illinois and lived in a small ranch home 5 miles south of town. Shelly is an avid nature lover. Growing up, she loved hiking in the woods behind her house and spent weekends with her grandfather fishing and hiking on his 100 acre wooded property, shooting her bow and arrow and BB gun, and helping him on the farm with his pigs, chickens, ducks, goats, sheep, peacocks and pigeons. She was a 4H member, loved horse back riding with friends and drove many miles "around the square" with friends on Friday and Saturday nights. After graduating from high school she moved to Normal, Illinois where she attended Illinois Illinois State University. During the summers she worked at Sangamon Card Company both in the office and in the factory, working wherever she was needed, to pay her way through college. After graduating with her B.S. in Business Administration, she moved to Bloomington and has lived here ever since. She chose banking as her career of choice for 17 years and worked her way up from a checking account specialist, to a credit card collector, then became a Loan By Phone specialist. After her 3rd year in banking she took a huge leap of faith as a commission-only Mortgage Loan Officer. She spent the next 14 years helping people purchase the home of their dreams and determine the right refinance option for her clients' needs. Over the years, Shelly has developed a passion for real estate. She has bought and managed her own investment properties as well as purchased, remodeled and sold foreclosures and short sale properties. Her favorite remodel project was a turn-of-the-century Victorian home on Emerson Street in Bloomington. She holds a SFR certification which is a certified foreclosure/short sales specialist. She loves working with her clients, understanding their wants and needs, and loves negotiating the very best deal for them. She loves meeting with clients individually and consulting them on how to prepare their home for the market without spending a fortune. Her sales have ranged from $45,000 to $1,050,000 and she has helped clients from Taylorville to Chicago, Illinois. She was on the Big Brothers/Big Sisters board for 4 years and has been an active member of the Habitat for Humanity Selection Committee for 10+ years. She has also volunteered in "Red Day" every year that she has been a KW agent. Shelly’s mortgage experience enabled her to easily transition into real estate sales and became a full time Realtor in 2009. In her spare time, she loves traveling with her husband, 2 children and 3 step children. She especially loves Denver, CO where her son currently resides. Lake Tahoe, Sanibel Island, Riviera Maya, and Hilton Head are some of her favorites. She hopes to retire someday in Sanibel Island, Florida.
